All the reaction has put the Big East in the spotlight again. Butler was trending worldwide on Twitter.

"Butler Family" candidates on the list (current school): LaVall Jordan (Michigan), Brandon Miller (Butler), Matthew Graves (South Alabama) has already said he will not be the next Butler coach, Michael Lewis (Butler), Todd Lickliter (Marian University), Micah Shrewsberry (Purdue), Scott Drew (Baylor) makes too much, Thad Matta (Ohio State) makes too much, Barry Collier (Butler) not interested.

What is the money situation available? Keep seeing things insinuating they don't have the resources to get a lot of guys.

Also, why not Ben Howland? If Buzz leaves for Texas (and we are all scared about it w/ Barnes turning into a POS lately) that's who I'd want.

Stevens was around 1.1-1.3m last year. Not sure how much would be available after this TV deal begins.

I'm not saying those are the only names I've heard, just the typical "in-house" types that Butler has had success with in the last 25 years.

Rumblings today have LaVall Jordan as the top candidate. 2013 signee Brown appears solid, Berry is "keeping options open". 2014 recruits have the options to wait and see.

Butler keeps it in the family.

Butler found its next basketball coach the same place it usually does -- inside the family.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs announced they were promoting recently hired assistant coach Brandon Miller as Brad Stevens' replacement. The decision came three days after Stevens surprised everyone by taking the head job with the Boston Celtics.

But like Stevens and his predecessors Todd Lickliter and Thad Matta, the Bulldogs didn't have to look far to find the next coach.

"I am confident that Brandon will carry on the Butler University basketball tradition of excellence, especially as we make the transition to the Big East Athletic Conference," athletic director Barry Collier said in a statement.

"As a player, assistant coach, and person, Brandon has exemplified the Butler Way and brings a blend of energy, talent and integrity to this role. With Brandon's leadership, Butler is well positioned to expand upon the success of the last few years."

Two Butler players reported they expect every player (including all 6 freshmen) to stay with team following Brandon Miller's promotion.
