His freshman year efficiency statistics do not look good, but the sample size is small, making it hard to determine how meaningful that is. In the picture, he looks really scrawny for a high-D1 power forward, and the dad did comment on how a redshirt year would benefit him. I agree, especially since the lack of bulk probably directly contributed to his poor efficiency, rebounding rates, etc.

He was a 3-star recruit, so there's nothing automatic about his success at this level. Nonetheless he's a good addition for St. John's. If he comes in with the right attitude, works hard, and uses the year to work on his body and his game, he could become a positive contributor.

1 thing good about a guy like this now- if they close up the graduation transfer loophole, a guy like this won't be able to come to St John's- play 2 years- get real good- and then transfer somewhere else to play his senior year right away.

Yeah, I think he'll be helpful to St. John's down the road. He definitely gives them depth.
