Non Revenue Sports

I thought it might be interesting to see which sports (other than basketball) each school had. I made a list of the (men's) sports carried by the C7, 3 new additions, and potentials to fill the last 2 spots. X=has the sport. I didn't count sports that only 1 or 2 schools had. For LaX I counted teams that will be added by 2014. If I missed anything let me know.

It looks like we have a decent line up for soccer (10 teams), baseball (7), cross country (9), golf (9), and tennis (8), regardless of which teams are added. We may have to get creative and have some schools add LaX (and/or SLU move to D1) if we want to have a complete conference. Same with Swimming and Diving. I don't see us adding a football conference in the near future, but who knows?

It would be nice to add at least 1 more track/field school (currently at 7), but no matter who gets in we will have 8 for baseball (NCAA minimum is 6 for a baseball conference). Do you guys think that with the added tv revenue we will be able to add some of these sports in order to make a more complete conference?

EDIT: Sorry for the bad formatting
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I would be surprised if they did, X just doesn't have the facilities. They would have to put new lines on the brand new artificial soccer field, or make the team play on the intramural patchy grass field.

I heard on local radio today that the Big East baseball tournament is held in Florida, correct? I would expect that to change next season. Not sure what facilities the Big East baseball schools have currently, but it seems to make the most sense to let Omaha host the tournament on a regular basis and play it at TD Ameritrade park (home of the CWS).

I can't imagine CU trying to add any more sports at this point. I'm sure they will continue to look at any opportunities for further expansion, but wouldn't see any new sports on the horizon for at least a few years.

Butler ended their LAX program in 2007. They still have a club sport team and a newly renovated Butler Bowl with artificial turf. I could see that added back eventually, especially to attract more East Coast male students.

No swimming facilities at BU other than the Health & Recreation Complex. In fact, the old pool area in Hinkle Fieldhouse is being renovated into offices, etc. for other sports.

I would add Victory Field in Indianapolis to the baseball tournament locations. Added advantage: it's one block from the NCAA Headquarters.

Why would we not host baseball in Omaha? Not that Marquette has baseball, but if the CWS can be there wouldn't it be silly for us to not go there?

That was my point. In past year's the Big East played their tournament in Florida. Obviously that is not going to happen, so Omaha should host the baseball tournament.

TDAPO is a great facility. Having a conference championship at same ballpark as the CWS is neat. BE should look into this.

With the new money it would not be an issue. Adding lines to Turf isnt a big deal anyomre either. When the HS starting to have the sport I think it would be a good idea. Would also need to add some girls sports though, that could be a snag
