In the event that expansion happens, the conference will at that time choose the teams. 10 teams will be added, possibly even today. At some point in the future, other teams will be discussed.

Hmmmm I just don't think Fox paid a couple hundred million for players to be named later, just not the way its done. Add in the fact that all the rumors go otherwise. If it was just rumors i'd agree with you but rumors, plus the fact that it logically makes sense, plus the $ is tough to ignore.

They haven't. They have paid $500 million for 10.

There is absolutely no truth to it. I am not a lawyer, but I think that both Dayton and St. Louis would have a very good case against the A10 if they were excluded when everyone else who has been leaving was not.

I love how someone from a UMASS board was privy to what happened in the A10 meetings.

Is it safe to say that the 7-10 schools in the league would prefer to stay at 10 and any expansion to 12 would be because fox demands it?

Oh... you would be surprised how information leaks... Remember Umass has a foot out the door and are not involved in the whole c7 mess. All you need is a Umass staffer to say something to an intern and ... well then you get your leak....

Hey I can't prove to you anything happened as far as i know they were having a secret underground drinking competition and Butler and Xavier were turned away because they didn't have the correct password. However there is a lot of rumbling that the other is what occurred. It is quite possible that it did and not at all shocking that a rumor came out from the UMass front.

your right that Slu and Dayton would have a good case (although far from airtight) however as the Xavier blogs pointed out this whole meeting was called to flush out the remaining two defectors. This rumor is plausible and just as plausible as any other rumor out there. Its not like other than 2 tweets from Espn we have really anything else to go on from this meeting.

Nah, its safe to say there are some fans who would prefer to stay at 10, but as to what the schools prefer your guess is as good as mine. I could list a bunch of reasons as to why each school would want 12.

Given that nearly every rumor and media 'inside source' is pointing at the schools wanting to stop at 10, sure, we have no good guess what the 7-10 schools prefer.

Hmmm 10 teams-- less money-- less NCAA bids-- and if the Big Conferences decide to leave the NCAA-- increased odds of being left out...

I think its clear the schools want 10 teams.

Sigh, we all get the 12 team argument. the schools will obviously get any argument for 12 teams. There is almost no question this will be a 12 team conference. That doesn't mean the schools don't prefer a 10 team conference. You can argue all you want for the reasoning of 12, it doesn't change that things keep pointing to the schools balking at going from 10 to 12.
