Being from the West, and having attended Creighton for several years long ago, I developed an enduring interest in their athletic programs. Even while serving overseas and residing for several decades on the West Coast, have followed their persistent improvement in sports and University facilities.
This current athletic program there is remarkable. It is competitive accross the entire spectrum of their programs, on a comparatively frugile budget. Can't recall any significant scandel or dishonorable lapse to their (dare I say?) squeaky clean athletic programs. The type of a class operation that seems the standard of the schools in the new proposed league; thus, an apparent good fit.
The point? In today's very competitive D-1 sports environment, with daily disclosures of schools "cutting the corners," would say Creighton will never embarrass the League. Would think there are many fans in the new league who will put a high priority on the ethical conduct of any new members. Lots of highly "successful programs" today on which class operations such as the Big East schools would take a pass on offering to join them.
