So you are saying that Boyee, who bumped this thread after it was dormant for 6 weeks, is an AAC supporter and a Big East hater.

and just as much a surprise that folks on here want to diss the AAC every single minute. The AAC isn't going anywhere...

It's far from a sad conference and any one with a clue in basketball knows that. Big East is going to be better than them this year- but it's not like the AAC is going to be like the MWC was last year. I don't know why folks on here want to bring this up every single week it seems. Maybe some jealousy.

I would be Ecstatic if the 2014/15 Big East basketball season APPROACHED the success of the 2013/14 AAC season. Three AP All Americans, 4 NCAA Bids,9-3 tourney record plus the National Champ. And you have to count the Women's NCAA champ in there also. Our goal should be to be as good as the AAC was last year.

Lol…all of those stats are because of ONE team: UConn. They always win the women's championship because they might as well be in a division by themselves. They are so far ahead of everyone else it's laughable. Something fishy is going on there and you see how shady Geno can be calling up that little league girl trying to recruit her. The men's team was always very good too. It's not the AAC, it's UConn. To act like the entire conference is stacked even though its success was due to 1 team is very misleading. You also fail to mention how HUGE of a deal it is that Louisville is now gone. That's 1 more automatic NCAA tourney team annually gone. In comes Tulsa and Tulane…and ECU not sure if they are in already. In other words, they lose a lot and on top of that, they import trash programs.

Take UConn out of the equation and the AAC is absolutely nothing. Cincy is good too but if they have a dry spell after losing Kilpatrick then the only game in town will be UConn for their entire conference. That's why it's fun having a deep conference like ours. We aren't just a 1 headed monster. In a great year we can be a 5 headed monster. I still think UConn comes back to the Big East eventually because it will be too perfect to pass up with the TV contract, the roots, the local base, and the rivalries. Once the power 5 leaves them behind, they will come running back to us for basketball.

Most of the victories The American members in football are either against FCS schools or another American school. I don't have any problem with Connecticut or Cincinnati or Temple. SMU got shut out by Baylor and could only muster 6 point against current Conference USA member UTSA. I was surprised when Temple chose to become a full member of The American after being an Atlantic 10 member in all but football for a long time. Cincinnati isn't playing until Week 3 for some reason. Memphis is the only Tier 2 academic school in the conference. The 2014 U.S. News and World Report academic rankings for The American are below.

Former SMU running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson didn't mince words when it came to his alma mater's issues on the football field: either fix it or get rid of it.

Eric Dickerson was a two-time All-American for SMU, and he still is the Mustangs' single-season and career rushing leader.

"I talked to four former players yesterday, and we all said if they don't want to do anything, just kill the program," Dickerson told 105.3 KRLD-FM in Dallas on Tuesday. "Just stick to academics and basketball and kill that program.

The American Athletic Conference is the legal successor of the original Big East Conference (1979-2013). The new Big East Conference is technically a new league with the Catholic Seven from the original Big East Conference with Butler University, Creighton University, and Xavier University added and they purchased the name from what is now the American Athletic Conference (The American). The new Big East Conference has 4 of the 7 founding Big East members (Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's) and The American has one (Connecticut). Only 4 current members of The American were ever in the original Big East Conference (Cincinnati, Connecticut, South Florida, Temple). Central Florida, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, Southern Methodist, Tulane, and Tulsa all joined the league after it became The American. While all the Catholic Seven (DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's, Villanova) were members of the original Big East Conference.
