Georgetown
Gonzaga
Villanova
Butler
St. John's
Marquette
Creighton
Providence
Xavier
Seton Hall
DePaul
St. Mary's

That would be an incredible conference!

With what St. Mary's is facing, Moon University may be a more viable option in the coming years.

1. St. Mary's no way
2. Gonzaga is located on the moon... have you ever been to Spokane
3. FOX already has PAC rights they are not going to be paying travel just for the zags
4. Yes gonzaga is catholic and is currently number 1 (hence the easy rumors) but logistically it wouldn't make sense ( i don't think even UPS could fix this one).
5. With the Non Rev travel expenses Gonzaga actually stands to potentially loose money by joining the conference. (of course they say they are interested- It gets their name in the news- they are campaigning for a number 1 AP poll ranking and we all know that you not only have to be good to get that ranking you have to be buzz worthy. Gonzaga's AD would be stupid not to say they are interested.
6. There have in the past 2 weeks as many Fox wants Detroit rumors running around as Gonzaga rumors all a product of Bball fan base desperate for information and more willing to make up their own stories rather than wait for an official logical announcement. Why do you think Fox paid so much... if anything all these rumors show that they made a wise investment.

Do you reaally want to fly the womens field hockey team, or what ever to Spokane everytime they have to play an away game? The only way west coast teams could come into play is if they have a self contained west coast division, and that isn't going to happen any time soon.

This is all based on one anonymous person on a message board hypothesizing about what is taking so long to announce schools. Any idiot can make crap up and see who takes it and runs with it - Blaudschun's been doing it for a month.

Gonzaga ain't joining and that's not the reason for any perceived delay. Just be patient.

If this is true it would be great.

- West Va is a bad analogy actually, because they gave up exposure in New York. Gonzaga, meanwhile, would be doing the exact opposite, for the better... gaining exposure in New York, plus Chicago, DC, Philadelphia, New England, etc.
- St Mary's plays 15 minutes away from an arena that seats 18,000 fans, in Oakland. I would imagine that would be available for in-conference games. This is where Golden State plays.
- The Big East schools would gain exposure in California for recruiting.

SMC would be a bad choice, especially in light of the current NCAA sanctions. They play in a high school gym. Sure, they could play "big" games in Oakland but you really think they could fill it? At best, it would probably be 7-8K on a good day. Coach Bennett is the major reason for their rival and now he's been caught cheating by the NCAA. Highly doubt the Big East want to touch SMC right now...

I'd love to have Gonzaga as well but the travel seems like a nightmare for them. The only "bridge" I could see would be BYU if their football remains independent but I have a feeling they will eventually have to join the Big XII so they are out.

Simple solution schedule an OOC game with your favorite like minded private basketball only WCC school schedule the home and home opposite (for year round West coast exposure) with the logical BE PAC challenge series that Fox will most likely want to play in December. West Coast recruiting trip without those nasty women's field hockey travel fees.
