Good local story (with video) about quette commit Sandy Cohen. A lot of insight into how much & how soon college coaches influence the lives of the athletes they coach or even are soon to coach:

"When Seymour's Sandy Cohen committed to play basketball at Marquette, they asked him to skip his senior season of football. Fair enough, he thought. The tune, however, has changed. Marquette softened their stance as the Thunder hit the postseason. "I was just talking to [Marquette head coach Buzz Williams] about the game last week, he asked how I did," said Cohen. "He just said, 'survive and advance."

"This isn't a case of an entitled athlete dropping in because he wants to run around under the lights. Throughout the season, Cohen did the not-so-fun stuff, while missing games: he watched film, went to meetings and stood on the sidelines while the friends he'd played football with since 5th grade went on without him."

Satchel Pierce calls it for MU. Congrats.

"2014 Kiski School (PA) center Satchel Pierce tells me that he has committed to Buzz Williams and the Marquette Golden Eagles."

"Marquette beats out Pitt and Miami for Satchel Pierce's services. The perfect fit for him and goes right in line with typical Buzz bigs"

"Marquette jumped in with both feet back in September and never let off the gas pedal. Pierce never visited, but they made him feel needed"

There was a lot of concern when he cancelled his visit, but it's great to get another quality post player.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The newest 2014 Blue Demon commit, Raymond Doby of Montrose Christian, made big news helping to upset Findlay Prep at the Jerry Tarkanian Classic over the weekend:

Montrose Christian came all the way back from 24 points to tie the game. During that comeback they rode the offensive onslaught by Allonzo Trier who seemed like he just could not miss in the second half scored scored 15 points in a 5 minute span. With a chance to close it out Findlay Prep missed 4 free throws in the final minute....then this play happened. Raymond Doby caught an oop from Patrick McCaw to win the game in extremely dramatic fashion at the 2013 Jerry Tarkanian Classic!

St. John's got a late commitment to the '14 class with the signing of Bosnian PF Amar Alibegovic. Theres not much out there on him but word is he can stretch the floor. Im sure he wont light up the BE from day one but there was nothing to lose with this and im glad to have him.

DePaul commit Raymond Doby to reclassify; will not attend school this year...The Blue Demons' lone high school commit in the Class of 2014 will not be playing for them..

In what has become a bit of a tradition under DePaul Blue Demons coach Oliver Purnell, a player who signed their letter of intent with the school will not end up playing for the team. In the past, it was players like Shane Larkin, Walter Pitchford, Braedan Anderson, and Jon Davis. This time it was their single high school commit from the Class of 2014, three-star forward Raymond Doby.

Rumors flying around that there is an commitment forthcoming from a 2014 Foreign shooting guard to PC. Anybody have any ideas who this might be?
