SEC-Big East Challenge is no more

Not that this is a surprise to anyone.
As has been discussed here, OOC schedules will be paramount to the success of this new league.
While I don't see an SEC/C7+ Challenge on the horizon, this does open things up and is another hit to the Aresco conference.
It really is in both camps best interest just to get this done & move forward.

This never had much steam behind it anyway.

No, not really - but it was an opportunity for a BCS conference game during the OOC schedule.
The conference is over, the challenge is over let's move on.
Someone suggested a challenge w/ the Pac12, which would be great. Especially if both are signed to Fox.
That'll get the brand some national exposure.
I think that these challenges do help in scheduling your OOC. That's one major conference game you know you have every year.

The secret behind these challenges is TV network involvement. Nothing will get done until a TV deal is inked. Once that happens, the TV network can put pressure on other conferences with which it has deals. If the new conference signs with Fox, look for a challenge with the PAc 12. Such an event will go a long way toward guaranteeing carriage on the two coasts. It won't be extremely difficult to put these type of deals together because, unlike football, basketball generally doesn't sign many long term scheduling agreements.

I thought it was because the SEC ran out of non-violators.
