It is an absolute disgrace. Seton Hall is owed a direct apology from both Val and the Butler AD to be honest

I always felt the person on selection committee angle is very overrated. This year sort of confirms it.

Here was the commttee this year-
CHARLES MCCLELLAND (2024) – SWAC Commissioner (Chairperson)
JAMIE POLLARD (2024) – Iowa State Athletic Director
SCOTT BARNES (2024) – Oregon State Athletic Director
BUBBA CUNNINGHAM (2025) – North Carolina Athletic Director (Vice-Chairperson)
MARK COYLE (2026) – Minnesota Athletic Director
GREG BYRNE (2026) – Alabama Athletic Director
KEITH GILL (2026) – Sun Belt Commissioner
BARRY COLLIER (2026) – Butler Athletic Director
MARTIN NEWTON (2027) – Samford Athletic Director
TOM WISTRCILL (2027) – Big Sky Commissioner
ARTHUR JOHNSON (2028) – Temple Athletic Director
RENEE BAUMGARTNER (2028) – Santa Clara Athletic Director

We had no chance.
5 guys from the South.
3 guys west of Rockies.

Minnesota.
Iowa State.

a guy from Temple who is ppoint-shaving, who was once kicked out the Big East, and from a school that hates Villanova.

and Barry Collier.

East of Indianapolis, and north of Chapel Hill, no one was there except the point-shaving Temple guy.

At this point in 1981, Gavitt, who had clout and cred and was the boycotted 1980 Olympics coach, just forced his way on tje Selection Committee.

I nominate Steve Napolillo, the PC AD, to get on the Committee and fight for all of us. I'll accept other good BE guys except Georgetown reps.

Good thing Virginia got in. We could have missed out on this offensive masterpiece.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Lol, 14 pts at the half.

The selection committee already looks like a bunch of morons and we haven't reached the R64 yet.

After Virginia star Reece Beekman sank two free throws with 9:20 left in the first half, the Cavaliers would not score again until Beekman's jumper with 16:37 to play in the contest. The drought included 19 consecutive missed shots and spanned 13:53 of game time and 59 minutes of real time, which included a 20-minute halftime.

Anyone with eyeballs could have predicted this Virginia result. What a bunch of idiots in that selection room.

Colorado State is better than most people think, but Virginia is really bad and how they got in the Tournament makes no sense. 2-7 in Quad 1 and the other metrics aren't much better!

Only four ACC teams made the round of 64 (UNC, Duke, Clemson and NC State).

Hurley going after it hard yesterday:

With Big East undefeated, UConn's Hurley says 'mistake was made'
"Obviously the mistake was made," Hurley said after the defending national champs won their eighth straight tournament game by double digits. "It sucks."

The NCAA tournament selection committee left out the next tier of Big East teams -- Seton Hall, St. John's and Providence. All three reached the 20-win plateau.

Instead, the committee selected two teams from the Mountain West and one each from the ACC and Big 12. The Mountain West sent six teams total.

Hurley and the rest of the Big East coaches, who have their own group chat, seem to have noticed. The Mountain West is 3-5 so far in the tournament. The Big 12 is 3-3.

Meanwhile, the Big East is the first conference to send at least three teams to the NCAA tournament and have none lose a game prior to the Sweet 16 since the SEC in 2014. Prior to that, it hadn't happened since the Big East in 2003.

"Just the quality of the league; look what we've done in nonconference games," Hurley said in defense of the Big East on Sunday. "I don't know what our record is the last two years, nonconference [multi-team events], NCAA tournament, and Seton Hall beat us by 15. You know, we've won eight straight in this tournament, all by significant margins, and they were good enough to beat us and they were good enough to beat Marquette.

"And there should have been five or six Big East teams in this tournament. You've seen how other leagues that got the bids that our league deserved has underperformed."
