When he was at Butler, I thought the three best coaches in the conference were Wright, Mack and Holtmann. But I haven't followed him since he went to Ohio State. He can certainly get Depaul out of the bottom of the Big East standings.

I guess I'd best describe myself as cautiously optimistic.

If you had asked me to come up with a list of qualities I'd look for in an ideal candidate, I'm not sure Holtmann would check all of the boxes. Then again, I'm not sure anyone would -- at least not anyone who would realistically come to DePaul.

That said... about a year and a half ago, I would have told you that Chris Holtmann was a really, really good head coach.

So, that's where I am... he isn't my perfect candidate, but I still think it has a reasonable chance of working out well. And all I'm really asking of him at this point is to make us respectable.

Not feeling that hire.

In the deep cellar that DePaul finds itself they needed a titanic hire to get em out ala St. John's. But I guess it also comes down to who is available out there.

I don't think Holtmann will generate enough excitement and buzz to drive better recruits to DePaul. I hope I'm wrong though!

To me, i think Holtmann would be a great hire. Really super news for DePaul. Changes everything for the conference. I think i like him better than Moser.

Good hire. A proven HC that just fits the BE a lot better than the B1G, similar to Shaka & the BE/Big 12. With healthy NIL, there's some real hope here.

Good point about fitting the BE better than the B1G.
