Time will tell, but perhaps it was Cooley not PC that reached their ceiling. He now gets a fresh start at a program where the expectations, at least for a couple of years, are relatively low. After 2 BE wins in 2 years the only way to go is up. How much time is Georgetown and its fans willing to wait for a return on its investment? What are their expectations by year 3 or year 5?

Ordinarily people would've kept quiet about his peccadilloes, like they have apparently been doing for years.

But holy cow, he repeatedly kept sh-tting on us over the last month, and even now as we speak, like EMT and gosports and Cianci are describing... just trashing us... like some sadistic psychopathic lunatic.. and after a history of giving him everything he's asked for, including what seems to be annual raises, a new basketball center, freakin to the point of offering him $5m... and he continued to urinate on us...

Geez, 48 hours before tip off with Kentucky, last Wednesday, recruiting Lampkin... for Georgetown (!) on our dime. Freakin trying to recruit current Friars on our roster like a maniac... Bynum bailed, two incoming recruits bailed... continuing to have the balls to criticize Providence, all this ongoing, as we speak... it's like freaking "Basic Instinct" or "Sleeping With The Enemy"... his actions, as we speak, are too ridiculous to believe theyre happening. Holy shit.

At that point, can you blame some Friar insiders for finally spilling the beans?

So to clarify: Ed did not leave PC because of money... nor facilities... nor our fanbase... nor any kind of stinginess... nor because of his make belueve Friar ceiling... ok?

He left because of his personal screw ups. Doesn't matter how he or Jeff Goodman or John Fanta try to spin it... his leaving Providence has everything to do with Cooley's personal f-ckups.

Buzz was regularly courted by other schools prior to 2014 (SMU, Arkansas, OK State just to name a few). When he interviewed with VT, it was just days after the BET loss to Xavier. As soon as he was hired, his mouthpieces (Goodman namely) started using the narrative that the new Big East is behind the P5, couldn't compete and that Marquette wouldn't be able to maintain it's success with football playing schools. It was not only wrong, but it was personal.

Then, he took the assistants and almost all of the recruits. It left an empty cupboard. It took Wojo (who tried so hard to do things the right way) several seasons to get a full team again.

Marquette, too, had offered many raises and extensions to Buzz. It took care of him and his family. No coach stays at a school forever anymore, but there is a way to handle an exit. Buzz and Cooley left a lot of room for improvement.

To me, I'll never forget the pain of seeing Buzz screaming "LET'S GO! HOKIES!" chant and speaking of all the (limited) VT historic players at opening press conference. Friar fans will be hurt for a long time, rightfully so. But that pain will subside as soon as the Friars make the next tournament. Let's hope they hire a winner.

Keep your head up, Friars.

Is your source the internet rumor that’s been out there on twitter?

I agree with you . . . except when it’s part of the narrative.

Baptism by fire for a young coach in this league. Hope it works out.

I've consumed everything I could find since this was obvious and I'm 100% on board with this. Also, seeing Rothstein post last night that coaching changes don't allow for immediate playing time for 2nd transfer, it should mean that Carter, Hopkins and Floyd finish up at PC. Now keep Pierre and KE has a nice nucleus to start.

Why 6 years?? On paper this is a very underwhelming hire, but it could work because of the transfers potentially staying and him making the Tournament year one.

Anyone see all of the "Georgetown was my dream school" Tweets he did 5 years ago (can't confirm if real)? If true, did PC even run a background check?
