I never thought he'd leave Providence for Georgetown but I guess its happening...

I think he's gone, but considering how long it would take to get a house like that ready and on the market, I'm betting this is just an unfortunate coincidence.

There are over 300 D1 programs why go to one of the 10 that should be, unofficially, off limits? To make things worse he gives non answers all week, was on TV last night claiming his mind wasn't made up and hasn't received an official offer. TIP": If you want to pretend you aren't moving, wait more than 12 hours before you put your house up for sale. That might make you lies more believable.
He is also the highest paid coach in the BE and one of the top 15 in the country so it seems PC is willing to invest.
Hopefully PC goes for a name in their next hire

Yeah, i agree, Cooley's gone. In the interview last night he basically said PC offered enough money, offered everthing he's asked for, etc, but he needs a new start and then threw his wife and family under the bus, lol.

If he's going to leave, then he needs to go the F away fast, so we can start looking for his replacement.

I've accepted that this era is over, and i'm good with it. Things have run their course. The Kentucky game summed up these 11 seasons... unprepared or unable to advance past a beatable opponent, with a nice 8 to 10 to 12 point loss... no adjustments... deer in headlights coaching. F-ckin Groundhog Day.

Other tidbit i've heard, take it with a grain of salt...

During the weekend of our game at Georgetown a few Sundays ago, Ed met with the Hoya AD. The team after that win played like sh-t the rest of the year.

Georgetown absolutely needs to be fined, and/or Cooley suspended for several games. Poaching another coach from a fellow Big East conference mate has never been done before, and it's the exact opposite of what the BE has always been about.

Anyway, a lot more to babble about. I don't want to distract with this drama from a super season for our compadres in Milwaukee, and Sweet Sixteens for our brothers in Storrs, Cincinnati and Omaha.

For Georgetown-- your program has no integrity and you suck sh-t. Be funny to see if you poach any Friar players and incoming recruits.

It looks like Cooley's gone, but I bet the house going on the market is just an unfortunate coincidence. Putting a house on the market isn't like deciding to sell your old lawnmower on Craigslist. It's a drawn-out process between hiring an agent, working out details, and staging the place before you ever list it.

From John Fanta:
Georgetown is able to offer Ed Cooley in neighborhood of $6 million per year, per source. Beyond $: For Cooley, following in footsteps of John Thompson, and the resources committed/brand of the Hoyas has been appealing.

No way is Ed Cooley worth being the 5th (or 3rd?) highest paid coach in college hoops. This is insane. Dude has beaten South Dakota State, the Richmond Spiders, and had a 1 point lucky win 7 years ago followed by a beatdown. Holy shit. Man, i got into the wrong field.

I completely agree, but it just shows how desperate Georgetown is right now I think.

Georgetown probably wants a sure thing, even if the ceiling isn't as high. You rightfully have complained about how underwhelming he has been in the tournament, but Georgetown fans would take those results in a heartbeat over the last five years. They are going for a single that they maybe can squeeze into a double, not swinging for the fences.

Right, but for $6 million per year, plus incentives i'm sure, they could grab almost anyone they wanted from any school nationwide... they decide to troll Providence.

They could approach anyone, and say we'll make you the 2nd highest paid coach, behind Calipari... and they go after Ed Cooley? It's a f-ckin troll job of the Friars.

Also, the f-ckin league office was definitely aware and watched it happen. WTF? PC allowed cratering UConn back in the league, 49 miles away... totally took things up the A for the good of the conference, and we get f-ckin abused.

Look, i dont want Cooley back anyway. But what the f-ck is going on? Bring the hammer down on f-ckin Georgetown, the f-ckers.

Plus, doing this behind the scenes like weasels kept us from pursuing Pitino over this last month. We should just go balls out for him right now, if it's not too late-- ooh no wait, we can't... cuz Shanley is at St John's and the league wants their NYC team to be good.

This is why my love for college hoops has been declining every year……the whole business is a cesspool and now with the transfer portal and coaches having zero allegiance to their programs, it’s hard to care as much……can’t believe Cooley…..what a tool…..I really hope PC hits a home run with their next hire…..

Easy Ed was making $3.8 M /year at Prov??? He's #15 on the highest-paid list for 2022-23. Hell, I will apply for the job. lol
If Cooley departs - Prov will be late to the party for hires. Currently, ND, StJ, Gtwn are seeking coaches.
Rumor has it Pitino to StJ, Cooley to Gtwn? ND??

Prov needs to get on the stick...here are 5 good candidates -
Savino being intimately familiar with the BE. Good recruiter.
DeVries a good young coach.
Anderson is a winner at all 3 divisions level.
The others all experienced as former assistants.

K St Jerome Tang
Drake Darien de Vries - Dana Altman/G McDermott coaching trees
FAU Dusty May - Mike White (Florida) coaching tree
FDU Tobin Anderson
UCLA Asst Darren Savino - Mick Cronin coaching tree
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." - Nicholas Klein (1918)
"Top tier teams rarely have true "down" years and find a way to stay relevant every year." - Adoraz
