4 days after Marquette last was a top 6 team, The Incredible Hulk debuted on TV.

Later that month, The Carol Burnett Show aired it's final show!

Now, TV stinks other than sports.

I think a few teams would if they win out (win their final game/s and then win the Big East Tournament). That way the league could get some coverage for National Champion contenders these next couple weeks.

like how the Bracketville guy brought up last week I guess it was- the recent committees haven't been giving much benefit to league tournaments. Not much of an upswing for a run there. I think Marquette has a chance given where they are. UConn and Xavier not really sure they could get there.

This has really been a thing with the Committees for awhile, probably partly because logistically, it's just not reasonably possible to give that much attention to conference tournaments in the last few days before the bracket is set. Could you imagine the debates that would drag on forever if it wasn't deemphasized? The conference tournaments are probably worth a handful of spots on the S-curve at best, which isn't nothing; that's one or two seed lines for a team that goes on a great run.

I can picture Harvey Korman trying to stifle a laugh during a Tim Conway skit.

By the way, unbelievably, "History of the World Part 2" is being released next week, after a 40+ year period since Part One. "It's good to be the king"...

Last time Marquette was this high...

- David Hasselhoff was still on "The Young And The Restless", playing Dr Snapper Foster.

- The great Reggie Bar hadn't yet been introduced... "when you unwrap it, it tells you how great it is..."

- How did Marquette lose to Miami of Ohio in the 78 opening round?

Also, there have been 8 seasons since 1978 when Marquette has been in the Top 10... and 21 seasons ranked in the Top-25.

How did we lose? The AA Jerome whitehead was tossed for an accidental elbow. Raymond's also then got T'd up and was not great coach so couldn't adapt in the moment.

How's this for a stat, last time we were ranked this high we had as many championships as Kansas, and no other team in the current Big East had won a championship yet in fact Duke, UCONN, Michigan St, Louisville, Villanova, Florida all hadn't won a championship yet and have won multiple since.

Yes, the highest rank thing kind of implies Marquette has disappointed these last 45 years, which is completely not true.

From over here in New England, you guys, Notre Dame and DePaul were our bad-ass Midwestern indy brothers who we always rooted for, definitely in the tourney.
