Hall air balled a three that would’ve cut it to 5. Xavier then goes on a 12-0 and leads by 10. Oof.

Pirates get back in the game and then immediately get called for 5 fouls in the next 2 minutes lol

somewhat but realistically Seton Hall had too tall of a hill to climb to make the tourney. The win by Xavier allows them to keep having a realistic chance of a top 4 seed.

They've got no business anywhere near the tourney anyway. There's 1 player on the roster who would get minutes on any other Big East team and he was out injured tonight, so this is what happens.

Hopefully Sha just plays the freshmen the next 3 games and then hits the transfer portal hard.

I don't understand what Holloway was so upset about at the end of the game. You still have your guys pressing. Should Boum be on the bench in favor of a walk-on? Yes, that's who would come in off the bench with Colby Jones and Jack Nunge already sent to the bench and Adam Kunkel fouled out. When Boum gets past the press that you're still running and Xavier needs to shoot to avoid a shot clock violation, should he not shoot a wide open three? Come on, man. If you didn't want this kind of situation, pull back the press and put the walk-ons in; Xavier will put walk-ons in too. As it was, Boum pretty much needed to stay in the game and then Xavier needed to put up a scoring attempt.

Sanders' move to go for a steal with two seconds left when they're just trying to run out the clock is a bit of a punk move that Boum reasonably took umbrage at, but I laughed at it because it's clearly an overeager freshman trying to cap off a good personal game. I guess he was hoping to get the steal and then hoist a 40-footer before the clock ran out.

To be clear, I like Holloway as a coach at Seton Hall and think he'll be good for the program. It was just a weird end-of-game situation.

I admittedly didn't see the game but saw this quote from Holloway: “I want to apologize for what happened at the end of the game. That should never happen. As the head coach I take full responsibility for that.”

Also from Zags: Holloway didn’t make any players available because he said they didn’t “deserve” to speak to the media.

Yeah, that was a good response. It shouldn't have been that big of a deal, though. I think Holloway was getting frustrated and upset towards the end of the game and I imagine some of the players were too. There was also a solid amount of jawing going on in the game. Just dumb.

Xavier 33
Seton Hall 69

Can Xavier get into the top 30 with a big win tonight?
Will Seton Hall fall out of the top 75 with a big loss tonight?

so the answer is yes
Xavier 25
Seton Hall 78

looking at the league- Providence loses 1 Q1 win. Further down Butler and DePaul both lose a Q1 win.
