Meanwhile, Lunardi with his usual slightly underrating BE resumes 12/10:

https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/bracketology/ncaa-bracketology-projecting-2022-march-madness-men-field

2 NOVA
6 UCONN
6 Seton Hall
7 Xavier
8 Marquette
9 Providence

This guy is SO consistent with underrating the BE all season long it's actually quite hilarious. He just claims it's projection based.

Bracketville before 12/14 games:

https://bracketville.wordpress.com/s-curve/

3 Xavier (11)
4 Nova (14)
4 Seton Hall (15)
5 Providence (19)
6 UCONN (24)
8 Marquette (30)
11 DePaul (43)
11 Creighton (44)
St. John's 2nd out
Butler 27th out

This was posted before Creighton lost at home to ASU, but they should still be solidly in the bubble.

8 OOC games left to improve/solidify BE's position.

12/15
Howard @Georgetown
Morehead @Xavier

12/18
Butler vs. Purdue
Pitt vs. St. John's
TCU @Georgetown
Iona vs. Seton Hall
DePaul @Northwestern

12/29
Temple @Villanova

Need to finish strong to keep 6-7 bids likely and 8 a possibility.

DePaul at Northwestern looms large.

End of the day I don't think those games determine much at all. I think what the conference is like in-season will determine more. I do think the Northwestern game is huge for DePaul.

Went back and looked at 2019-20 Big Sky standings. Why? They were 11 team full round robin schedule...

They finished
16-4
15-5
14-6
12-8
10-10
10-10
9-11
8-12
8-12
4-16
4-16

Right now any team that in the Big East this year finished 12-8 would be easily safe obviously. To yes include Georgetown or Butler.

The 10-10's get more complicated- but I think end of the day all but Butler or Georgetown would make it with that record.

9-11 I'm not sure that there are many that could finish there that could make it. Would be right on the fringe of the bubble. The top teams probably could- Providence, Nova, Xavier, Seton Hall. But then again, they're more likely to be at the top. I think it'd be tough for Creighton(17-14), St John's(18-13 with nothing OOC), Marquette(17-14) to make it. DePaul with a loss to Northwestern would be 18-13 and right on the fringe. With win they'd be 19-12 and pretty safe. Butler would be 14-15 so out. Georgetown would be 15-16 or 16-15 and so they'd be out.
8-12 I don't know that any team could finish there and make it. Maybe Providence, Seton Hall, or Xavier?

Thought the exact same thing.

Can you imagine Butler beating Purdue? That would be wild - and nice.

That loss to ASU lowered the Jay's net down back into the 70's. Ouch hopefully the bracketologists don't punish the Jay's but seeing as how they always underrate the conference, not good.

to me it just removes the margin for error for Creighton that they got from the BYU win.

Lol what? The Selection Committee never has underrated the conference. Who cares what bracketologists in December think? They're still using projections at the moment, too. Give it another month and none of them will be undervaluing the conference, because it's their job to get them right by Selection Sunday and we've always been highly respected by the Selection Committee.

It was a bad loss, but Jays were #82 4 days ago. Now they're #77 with a few good wins. They're probably not a Tournament team, but very few predicted they'd be one pre-season. They're still ahead of schedule, along with the rest of the conference overall relative to our pre-season expectations.
