I would say Xavier, have always admired their teams. Just like this new BE is good for PC, SJU and SHU. I think Xavier could use this to vault them to the next level.

DePaul or X. DePaul because I really want the MU Depaul rivalry to return to prominence and having two of the three biggest cities in our bag would be sick. X was my backup school and I never really got over rooting for them (except when we ended their sweet 16 streak haha)

Long term I am most intrigued by Xavier. I have been a quiet admirer of their program from afar and think that many battles loom ahead between our two programs.

Short term very intrigued by Creighton. They are basically double jumping up in rank. Usually teams like Creighton follow the path that Butler took and move to a league like the A-10 first. It will be interesting to see how they react when they play physically tough and athletic teams and when they don't have any nights off in the new league. If they can step up and handle the grind of those 18 games and finish in the Top 3, I will be impressed. My head tells me that on paper they'll be a Top 2-3 team but my gut tells me they end up somewhere around 4th or 5th.

Why would any team willingly enter that disaster area? Your point is well taken, but I just saw that one as way too easy.

I don't see a conference with VCU, Saint Louis, La Salle(all 3 tourney teams), then a 2nd tier with Dayton, St Joe's, UMass, and Richmond- as being a dumpster fire. Is it as good as the Big East? No, of course not. Is it as good as the MWC? Quite possibly. It's clearly a top 10 conference. Probably gets 3-4 teams in the tourney this year. Now, the Horizon or MVC or CAA- now those are dumpster fires.

Yeah, I agree that the A-10 is a really good conference. I think it's clearly better than the Mountain West. And in addition to the 7 schools you named, Rhode Island is going to be good this year too. Dan Hurley has some good players this year.

Besides PC. I would like to see Xavier and Butler do well the next couple years, to fortify the league. Creighton already seems strong, but we need the new schools to do well with the uptick in competition. More importantly, I think St. Johns is essential to the NBE. Having them become a top program in NYC and nationally is very important to the league as a whole.

If the A-10 wasn't a disaster, why would every school be looking for the exits? 350K per school? A worthless TV deal (which runs for 8 years) and schools who would rather be somewhere else is clearly a radioactive area.

By the way, replacing 4 schools with George Mason got the commissioner an extension. Standards aren't real high there.

If it's not as good as the Big East, it's not a good league, period. BCS Leagues + Big East > Everyone else. I don't like SLU being a part of "everyone else", especially when their sentence is self-inflicted.
