For what it's worth, the Sporting News Basketball preview issue says that there are 8 teams with a legit NCAA Tourney shot in the Big East, so basically anyone other than DePaul & Seton Hall should be in for a fun ride this year.

For that to happen we would need the A10 and AAC to absolutely drop the ball. If UConn falls off the map with the new coach, and Cincinnati and Temple have a down year that would help. Lasalle failing to keep their momentum and a few other A10 teams not living up to potential would also be of great assistance (though I won't root against Dayton, SLU, Richmond, or VCU). It wouldn't hurt to have Kentucky and Texas have another bad season either, and some other power teams falling off. We would also have to absolutely dominate the non-conference play.

UConn returns all 5starters from a very good team plus most of their bench and some good recruits, so they're in great shape. But Temple has only 2 of its top 7 players back and is in complete rebuilding mode with a poor recruiting class. Cincy is in better shape but they have to replace 3 starters so they will be in transition. LaSalle will also be rebuilding and will not be a factor this year.

The Big East is 7 deep and is in great shape. Probably no Final Four team this year but the conference will be very strong .

Yeah, UConn is more of wishful thinking (and don't tell my mother I said it, she's an alum). If we somehow got 7 or even 8 as the guy above you quoted from his source that would be absolutely insane. I wouldn't even care about a final four. 4 sweet 16's would be nice though :D
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

7 can happen. A-10 will be LUCKY to get more than 1 at large this year, so there's a couple bids back in the pool. I'd bet on 5 Big East Bids, but more would not shock me in the least. The bottom of this league is better than all of the A-10.

There are a lot of good teams in the Big East, and it will be great basketball. Over 50% of the Big East? It could happen, and I wouldn't be shocked. I'd be more shocked if the Dumpster Fire gets more than 3 teams in this year. That's good for Big East business.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

Who cares about the A-10?? This isn't a mid-major conference. We should be talking about competing with the Big 10 and the ACC. They aren't and will never be near the quality of basketball of the BE.

Someone else brought up the Dumpster Fire...they said the A-10 getting less bids would be more for the Big East. I agree with that, and see that and the Mountain West as sources of atlarge berths. If the A-10 gets 2 bids other than their champion, it will be more than a mild upset.

I know of no Marquette fans who would like to see " Texas have another bad season".

Ah, yes. Because if the Texas job opens up there's no reason Buzz could possibly stay at lowly Marquette.
