Wenyen Gabriel, a probable 5-star, cut his list to 5 schools.
Alphabetically, Connecticut, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland and Providence.
When Ed Cooley offered him last summer, the only other offer he had was from New Hampshire. So Cooley has a great nose for talent. Unfortunately for PC, Gabriel has surged in the last couple of months, and a ton of big names started sniffing around. Actually, Kansas and North Carolina offered him, but they didn't make the cut.
In other PC recruiting news, other possibilities are:
PG-SG - Shamorie Ponds (Top-50, strong St John's lean, final 4 are SJU, Creighton, Minnesota and Providence) and Quentin Jackson (has offers from PC, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Charlotte and Lehigh).
SF-PF-C - Wenyen Gabriel, Sedee Keita (starting to surge, Ed Cooley is big on him), Kevin Marfo (built like Ben Bentil with a similar game) and JJ Matthews (also like Ben Bentil).
The thought is that the Friars will be in excellent shape if we can land one of those guards, and 1 or 2 of those F-C's...
UPDATE:
Gabriel committed to Kentucky today. Can't blame him when Calipari is after you.
