Who would be the next logical group? I think you'd add Gonzaga and St. Mary's along with the 5 others presumed earlier. That would leave 2 more spots. VCU maybe? St. Joe's?

Why not UConn and Cincy just for basketball? That's an awesome 16 on par with any league.

If it is the 12 based on SI's report, then I would add Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Wichita State and VCU.

I could see VCU because of their recent success but they are not a match at all in terms of public/private. I honestly hadn't considered Wichita State at all. Someone would need to educate me on why they would fit.

As a Creighton fan, I have some decent knowledge on the shockers. Although some of their fans are beyond annoying, they do have a strong commitment to basketball. They pack their arena (10K?), put a ton of resources into basketball, Gregg Marshall is a good coach and they travel very well. Their baseball is good as well (national champs once). I'd consider them similar to VCU (with less NCAA success of course), large public school that puts a ton of resources into basketball. Biggest negatives is they really have nothing in common w/the catholic 7 regarding academics, religion, being a private school and such.

I think Wichita would be pretty far down the pecking order. Like maybe if we went to 24 teams.

You would have to add Siena. NBA style arena that draws 7,000 consistently for bad teams, great NCAA history and get into the Albany TV market!
