Hearing that Dayton is #10

Let's be honest - everything is just rumor and speculation. That being said, I've been told that Dayton is going to be the 10th team added after Xavier and Butler. I still think the league goes to 12 and it won't matter who is 10 or 11 or 12 but if they stick with 10, it's Dayton.

I agree. The SI guy seemed to have the most accurate, earliest prognosis of going with 12 teams for more tv games and therefore a larger package of games to televise. It makes sense and I hope it works out. I believe all the schools mentioned (after Xavier and Butler as 8 and 9 ) are all worthy of a bid and bring strong programs, backing, financial security, and ability to generate NCAA bids- those three being Creighton, Dayton, and St. Louis. Also, being in this conference would allow the new schools to avoid the mid major tag (which has been a joke since they are more major programs than 1/2 of the bcs schools) and not lose some recruits to the bcs itis that rears its ugly head to some kids and parents.

Seems like half the rumors on the internet say Creighton is #10 while the other half says Dayton. Guess we'll see. Hopefully they just go to 12.

And that ought to have SLU worried.

When Butler joined the Atlantic 10 they sought assurances from Xavier and Dayton that they wouldn't leave. I am sure Dayton asked for reciprocation from Butler.

Does anyone know how tight the individual university presidents might be? Do the Jesuits have more interaction and thus potentially a greater willingness to work together?

There is a fair amount of crossover. Fr. Lannon of CU is on Marquette B of D and maybe others. I would expect to see a fair amount of board memberships among the schools. The boards are pretty large so it may be fairly ceremonial but I can't claim to know much about this subject.

Edkt: I wiki'd him, Marquette is the only college board but he is on other catholic-related boards. Try wiki'ing you prez for involvement at other schools.
