How many units will the Big East earn in ‘23 NCAA Tourney?

Big East is locked into 5 bids, so if the league goes winless in all games the conference would earn 5 NCAA units. The question is: how many units do you think the league will earn?

Each game counts as one unit although participating in the national title game does not add a unit for some reason. Playing in the first four counts as a full NCAA unit.

based on the Lunardi bracketology, league would be in line for 13 units if they went chalk.

I went 14.

It would be interesting to review how our previous NCAA tourney units worked out. Nova's runs generated quite a revenue stream for the league so now it's up to others to repay the favor.

ESPN talking heads love the Big East. I’ve seen multiple guys predict Marquette, UConn and CU to the Elite 8. That would be some serious juice. What’s each share of the NCAA pie worth there days anyway?

2017 - 7 bids 13 credits
2018 - 6 bids 13 credits
2019 - 4 bids 5 credits
2020 - NO TOURNAMENT
2021 - 4 bids 8 credits
2022 - 6 bids 13 credits
2023 - 5 bids ? credits

Roughly 2 million. With only 5 teams but with pretty good seeds, I think the conference can potentially break the record, or only end up with 6 or 7.

This is a wide open tournament and I think the BE will do very well. The East offers a great opportunity. If Marquette & PC can win both of their games in the first weekend, it sets up a BE matchup that would guarantee the conference a spot in the Elite 8. Kentucky seems to be cooperating with multiple injuries in their backcourt, including PG Sahiv Wheeler. A win here could help to turn things around from their late season slide.

UNITS

5 - UConn
4 - Providence
3 - Marquette
3 - Xavier
2 - Creighton

17 - Total

Only 2 NIT units this year.
