The Amp... aka Dunk... aka Providence Civic Center... was completed 50 years ago today, in 1973.
At the time it was the 2nd largest arena in New England, behind the old Boston Garden.
By the end of the 70's, both Hartford and Springfield (Mass) and then Worcester had built similar arenas too.
Top early wins in the 70's included beating #1 Michigan in the 1977 season on a shot by Bob Misevicius (M had Ricky Green, Phil Hubbard, etc), and North Carolina on a shot by Bill Eason (UNC had Phil Ford, Mike O'Koren, idiotic Four Corners, etc) a few days after the Blizzard of 78.

Just saw from Rothstein-
UConn's Dan Hurley and Associate Head Coach Kimani Young will not coach tonight against Seton Hall due to issues related to COVID-19, per release.
Assistants Luke Murray and Tom Moore will share coaching responsibilities.

Both Bynum, and now apparently Hopkins, are gametime decisions. Yikes.

Last night FS1 had coaches miked up in the San Jose State at New Mexico game, from "The Pit".
Richard Pitino sounded great, just like his father. Stressed in-game play and gave specific advice (don't let X drive, make him shoot from deep; with X come under the screen, etc), and was pretty calm.
Tim Miles was more generalized during timeouts (be useful, need more effort).
Good contrast. Fun game.
Tonight i might do an in-game commentary here at the HLOH.

I think X has a difficult time tonight. This is screaming trap/look ahead game no matter how much you stress otherwise. UConn, Creighton , PC next week...no way these guys aren't peaking ahead of DePaul and Georgetown. Hope I am wrong

DePaul seems to always have enough talent to be dangerous but just doesn't perform well on average because the coaching sucks or there aren't enough good pieces to be effective on a consistent basis.

DePaul road games are always dangerous.
