Part of the issue is that he didn't inherit a full roster. He's got some great players but can't even fill a full starting lineup without a dropoff. Xavier had the same issue in Steele's first year, where the fifth guy was so much worse than the fourth guy, until they started playing two bigs who couldn't shoot next to each other. And then at that point, they didn't have a bench worth talking about!
Now, granted, Steele had other issues, and we don't know yet with Neptune, but they had similar lineup issues despite some really good players.
