Noteworthy points:

An initial offer of $500M? Whoa.
Sources say that Fox, whose Fox Sports 1 channel is set to launch in August, has an initial high offer on the table of more than $500 million for a 12-year deal. Fox Sports 1 will replace the network's motorsports channel Speed, already in 81 million homes. Sources say officials with Fox are scheduled to meet with those representing the interest of the "Catholic 7" in New York City on Wednesday

Inequality is not a good thing in my idea:

It is believed the "Catholic 7" would divide its share of the television rights evenly and split the rest among what ideally will become the other three-to-five schools that it adds to form a 10- to 12-team conference. One source said it is likely the new schools wouldn't share the same amount as the "Catholic 7," which would allow the former Big East basketball schools to earn in the $5 million range.

Wow, a caste system. Those haven't worked so well throughout human history.

Sounds like the conference will get a nice contract. Each member should be payed equally though.

Isn't inequality what brought the Big East to this point? Why start anew with inequality?

Regardless of the plan, none of the targets who are actually good enough to matter would agree.

I hope this doesn't cause the whole thing to fall apart. Terrible way to start if you asked me.

I would tend to agree. Either the BE 7 will have to aim their sites lower and grab schools like Loyola and Canisius or they will have to change their position.

The C7 without Cincy, UConn, Cuse, etc from the Big East and without additions like XU, Butler, and Creighton is just Georgetown and Marquette. Not that appealing to anyone I suspect.

You have to assume the Fox deal of 500 million is contingent on the C7 getting Xavier, Butler and teams 9-12. So that definitely gives the new schools leverage.
