What would make you happy to go to 14?

If they decided to go for it and announce Gonzaga + Notre Dame I'd be happy with 14. If they added those two, I would have to assume they think it can work for the best. Now, I don't think either is happening, but to go that high it would need to be a big move for me to like it.

Yes, I think 12 is the magic number, and I'd love to see 12 for 2013, but might have to wait a year for whatever reasons............However if they did go to 14, its only worth it if they are very strong programs. I don't see Gonzaga (travel) or ND (ACC) ever happening. (ND maybe later if ACC collapses). The worst thing they could do is go to 14 just to go to 14 and add two blah programs.

Agreed...

I think twelve is good considering the talent and conference spread. I think further expansion would be best south, into ACC country. Davidson? Any other quality private basketball schools? There is the crackpipe chance that the ACC implodes or FBS completely splits into their own semipro league, and we could get Duke or Wake.

Duke and Wake are superconference conspiracy theory catches. They won't happen unless things are far uglier than anyone can expect. Even a disintegrating ACC leaves a nice basketball conference for football schools behind.

What would make me happy to go to 14? Well, 40mm/12= 3.33mm. So, a minimum of 46.6mm dollars per year from Fox.

Gonzaga and Richmond would be great at 14, but it puts a ton of pressure on Gonzaga to maintain a program of excellence.
I'm just imagining a world in 10 years where Mark Few gets one of the blue blood job assignments: UCLA, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Duke, or Indiana and the new coach can't reclaim the glory days. Now everyone has this crazy commute for 1 game against a terrible Gonzaga team, and they have a ton of travel to play teams that always beat them.

Why Richmond? Until schools are confirmed, they could still be in at 12.

True, they prob will be in at 12. I just hope if we start adding schools like Gonzaga, we balance them with east schools. Maybe UMass after they drop football, which should be happening any day now.

ND as long-term member is pie-in-the sky crap.
Their olympic sports team are by and large vastly better than the rest of the C7.
One year deal, maybe.
