I think Gonzaga would make for great TV contacts and NCAA units

What a geographic nightmare this would be ...plenty of good "Catholic" teams around like SLU and Creighton that would fill out this new league with quality teams without having to extend timezones too far.

Any chance they could join for hoops only?

As much as I would like to see Gonzaga involved, I just don't see how it is practical.

I don't think it's practical either BUT if Gonzaga would be willing to do join w/o a travel partner, then I say accept them. With a supposed 3 million a year contract, that would easily cover travel expenses. Given that Gonzaga makes the tournament every year, they would be adding money to the conference in terms of NCAA units. Also, teams in the western division would only have to take their sports teams to Spokane once a year while the eastern division would be once every other year. Very doable but I doubt they are added. Maybe if we went to 14 teams.

I think Gonzaga will want to see how this all plays out first. If they join, I doubt it would be right away. Maybe sometime down the line.

Gonzaga is the one who came out and publicly said "invite us!!!". If we want them we can have them.

What matters from Day 1 is NCAA tournament likelihood and who brings appeal for TV. Gonzaga is the #1 school available in my book for both. If they want to be a part of this league you find out a way to make it work.

Zags would elevate the league because they are good...but also because they would help the league" nationalize" their fanbase. More TV markets, more money, better recruits etc.

Could they place everything but hoops in the WCC and play in the Catholic Hoops League?
