Why not VCU and Wichita State?

Is this league dead set on remaining a collection of private schools? If so, VCU and Wichita don't make sense. If they are looking at teams that can routinely make the NCAA tournament it would behoove the Catholic 7 to broaden their search beyond just privates.

He's probably saying VCU and WSU although for WSU, 2 tourneys in 25 years probably doesn't qualify.

One thing to consider:

All of the privates have much more rigid admission standards than public schools like WSU and VCU. That may or may not give those publics a recruiting advantage in that they will be able to get kids in that will not be admitted at the other schools.

If this league is going to be taken seriously, the private schools can't be afraid of losing to teams with lower academic recruiting standards. This is going to be an elite basketball conference, in contention for National Championships. I'm all in favor of adding VCU if the league goes to 12. Wichita State is a potential school, I don't think they are better choices ahead of them.

I would like to keep this league elite in both hoops and the quality of the institutions.. I don't think adding VCU or Wichita State makes sense. They just don't fit.

I am not that familiar with VCU. I do know that Wichita State has a very poor academic reputation if national publications are to be believed

VCU is #170 in U.S. News National Ranking of colleges which would probably be the lowest by far in the league.
