Power Ranking the New Big East Mascots

Image

The conference realignment has ushered in a new era of the Big East, in which we say goodbye to some classic rivals and hello to new competitors. Along with the changing of schools comes a changing of team mascots that we’ll be rooting against. Gone are the days of hating on an Irish stereotype or a stupid piece of fruit – instead, we’ll be clashing with new faces in Butler, Creighton, and Xavier. While the basketball games themselves might be settled on the court, I’ve taken it upon myself to settle which team in the new Big East has the best mascot. So sit tight and pop an MHL with me (that’s a Mike’s Hard Lemonade, for you amateur drinkers out there) – it’s time to power rank the new Big East Mascots.

It's subjective I know, but I would have had St. Johns last.

I guess the real reason we weren't invited is that y'all knew we'd walk away with this award.

Either of Providence's Spanish Inqusition or Just-Plain-Unsettling Friars could take the creepiest title.

The old Seton Hall mascot had a much higher bad-assery factor. It was deemed to be too violent & not the image they wish to portray.
Not for nothing, what good is a pirate w/o a sword & a knife?
One the other hand, Seton Hall Prep refuses to succumb to political correctness & proudly displays a knife-in-teeth Pirate logo.
NOTE: if you were to rate in game mascot performance the SHU Pirate would have a negative score for several years now.

This is solid.

I don't know if the person who wrote it is a poster here, but if they aren't, I hope they start contributing soon.

Touchy subject in Marquette's world. 19 years after switching from Warriors to Golden Eagles and the vast majority of the Marquette community still hates the "new" nickname.

Vast majority? Every year new students come in with no connection to that name, are most of them wanting the change (not rhetorical, I'm curious as to the answer)? I went to school as a Golden Eagle, and especially after that debacle with switching the name to Gold and back, I just wish the topic would go away.

Agreed 100% Think the older version looks so much better!
