Time For a 96 Team NCAA Tourney...

I don't think we go to 96, but have got to think with how strong this bubble is this year will spark expansion.

I started this thread Tues March 5th 2024... before any of the ridiculous conference tourney results showing possible tanking of lock teams.

No sense half-azzing by increasing to 80 teams. Just leap to 96.

Conference tourney champs get byes.

First round 65 thru 96 play, getting down to 80 teams. Next round 49 thru 80 play, getting down to 64 teams. Then run your normal 64-team tourney. So those 65th thru 96th teams have more work to do.

with all the crap low-majors and their barely .500 records, I don't think they get a pass to the round of 64 at all. If it went to 96, regions would be just seeded 1-24 and 9-24, 10-23, etc. 1st rd and then on to rd of 64.
