Creighton has been a terrific program for a long time but they as with conference mates SIU-Carbondale are one bad coaching hire and a few bad recruiting classes away from oblivion. There was a lot of talk in St. Louis locally that the Billikens should've joined the Missouri Valley Conference instead of the A10 when CUSA basketball imploded. Only the deranged support that premise now that it's Creighton and a bunch of losers in the Valley.

In any case The Billikens were also a bad coaching decision and a few recruiting classes from oblivion and are now on the road back with recent tourney success, great facilities, and a better tv market and all around better location than Omaha. Let's face it doesn't everyone wake up in the morning and thank God they don't live in Omaha?

PS SLU should really get a home and home going with Creighton. It's been too long since we've played each other.

I totally agree that Creighton has been a terrific, well run program for a long, long time. My only question is is the national interest there? And I think that comes with more NCAA tourny wins, Gonzaga was the national sweetheart and now it seems they have transitioned into being a annual power that can draw national interest. Butler had two absolutely remarkable runs and they can really capture America's attention, I'm not sure Creighton can do that, even with their NPOY candidate and their good NCAA run last year interest just dosen't seem to be there on a national level.

They get a lot more interest than SLU or Dayton if that's the group we are comparing.

So I guess Columbia Missouri and Urbana Illinois are suburbs of St. Louis?

Just because Creighton doesn't play football and Nebraska basketball sucks recently don't go all state school al over us.......

SLU has great facilites, current success, and a better market. Creighton has two out of three......

I think he's saying that SLU gets third billing behind Mizzou and Illinois. Disagree?

I guess, although I think it changes from year to year, when Majerus had St. Louis as an 8/9 last year and Creighton was an 8/9 I don't think Creighton had more interest than St. Louis nationally, even though Creighton had more "exciting" story lines.

I wouldn't risk my sanity living in Omaha so perhaps we'll have to agree to disagree. Saint Louis is safer than many cities in California and many more in the Northeast.

I guess my sarcasm went over your head.....

There have been times when SLU played second banana to Missou and Illinois. XU and Dayton know what that is like I'm sure. It isn't the case presently except with some of the Missou journalism school grads working in local media.

and by recent tourney success, I guess you are talking about your 1 tourney bid in the last 10 years and 7 TOTAL?

re·cent
/ˈrēsənt/Adjective
Having happened, begun, or been done not long ago or not long before; belonging to a past period of time comparatively close to the present.

I believe you've got! Yes!

Again Creighton is a great program. If it was located in Chicago or Philly or Cinncinnati or St. Louis we wouldn't be having this conversation since It'd obviously be SLU or Dayton at that point for the last possible slot........

Creighton is a nice program, but there is no doubt that Doug McDermott has carried them a good bit farther than they have been in the past. Benoit Benjamin did more to hurt the program than anyone. I think St. Louis being more east coast gives them an advantage. If SLU can steal a top notch st. louis recruit now and then, there is no reason to believe they couldn't have a Creighton style run in them from time to time.
