They are averaging just under 2,000 in attendance. I don't know that you need a footprint in the Boston market beyond Providence. No one in Boston cares about college sports other than maybe some college hockey. Boston is a pro sports town through and through.

Thanks, I'm not that familiar with Boston, but can see the impact of pro sports there.

First time I've seen a story w/14 teams being talked about.

The new league, yet to be formed, is expected to have 12-to-14 members. The most likely candidates to join the Catholic schools, sources have told ESPN, are Butler, Xavier, Creighton, Dayton, Saint Louis, Richmond and VCU.

What's the rush ?.....start with 10 (Butler, X, Dayton)....eventually max to 12.....
16 GAMES.......Play each team in your division TWICE...... Play 3 teams TWICE in other division and the other 2 ONCE on a rotating basis.

Call me crazy but I think 16 is the number.

Look at the landscape of collegiate sports. Big Ten will soon have 16 schools and the odds are that others will follow. I saw we should get to 16 as soon as we can by scooping up all the strong basketball schools not in BCS leagues - Creighton, VCU, Wichita St, Gonzaga, St Marys, BYU, Xavier, Butler, and one more.

That proactive move will decimate the other non-BCS leagues and make the C7 a real player when the other leagues eventually want to run their own basketball tournament.

I was set on 12 but I could see the advantage of going larger if you want to project what might happen in 5-10 years.

I would prefer 10 to start, but if TV wants 12 I am fine with that.

Everyone needs to get their sh** together and win games. That is most important. Can't flame out.

the other thing hurting the starting at 10 and moving to 12 is that it puts the two other schools at a serious disadvantage. Most leagues once they get raided tend to crank up the exit fees. The A-ten did it last year. If the A-10 loses 3 members and looks like its going to get raided for another 2 and maybe others it will crank up the fees again. While the C7 know this they also know that can't be bringing in teams that are at a serious financial disadvantage and expect them to compete, and they need teams to compete to stay at an elite level. In a vacuum a gradual increase might work but in the reality that is realignment its not really feasible for what they are trying to do.

10 means round robin 18 game schedule.

Is a round robin Schedule worth missing out on $277,777. worth of money. Plus the need to find homes for all your schools athletic teams now that you don't have enough members to field leagues in them. I understand that some people are attached to the 10 team round robin but it does not make financial sense.

Where does the $277,777 come from? I'm less concerned with the non-revenue sports. Those things sort themselves out. You can always find affiliate members for those. PC played MAAC lacrosse for years.
