I always though Xavier's most famous alum was the guy who developed the "People of Walmart" website.

Another very notable alum of Xavier, among others, is Chuck Geschke, Founder and Chairman of Adobe Systems.

The Present US Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, is also a Xavier alum.

Most famous faculty member (emeritus) is Henry Heimlich, who developed the Heimlich Maneuver when an active Professor at XU.

To look at all time with Marquette I think you need to include Hildegarde, though I do not know if she graduated. She was a well known persona in the early 1900's onwards and performed for a variety of nation's presidents/monarchs. Pretty interesting person to read about, with a long and successful career.

It amuses me that one of Star Trek's biggest villains was out of Marquette, Marc Alaimo played Gul Dukat on Deep Space Nine, as the primary antagonist for the show's entire run.

Marquette's best alum HAS to be Vincent "Buddy" Cianci - Mayor of Providence (graduate from Marquette law school)

1970s - Criminal Prosecutor
1974 - 1984 - Mayor of Providence
1984 - Convicted of Assault - rumor is that state troopers held the guy down while Buddy went at him with a lit cigar
1990 - 2002 - Mayor of Providence (during the "Renaissance")
2002 - Convicted federal RICO - Yes that is correct for running a "criminal organization" while mayor of Providence
2007 - 2013 - Radio talk show host and probably the most popular guy in Rhode Island, could easily win the Governorship or Congressional seat.

What, you don't claim the "Sports Pope"? To hear Mike Francesa tell it, Fr. Harrington consults him before making a move!

For basketball, the most famous Providence College alumni would include Lenny Wilkens, John Thompson, Jimmy Walker, Ernie D., Marvin Barnes, and Billy Donovan, as well as Ray Flynn, who later became Mayor of Boston and Ambassador to the Vatican.
