How do you like your roster? Thomas, Turnbull and Posh are about the only familiar faces. The team plays well together considering all the turnover.
I think there is a level of optimism now that Butler fans haven't had for a long time. We aren't going to compete for the top of the BE with this roster, but we are going to be competitive night in and night out. It's obvious that there is just way more basketball intelligence with this group...plus a much bigger, more athletic, and radically better shooting roster.
I think we are going to struggle during the parts of the game where Posh isn't on the floor, because backup pg seems to be the biggest weakness right now. And we don't have a go-to scorer for those moments when you just need a bucket. But this looks like a Butler team again. Even though we don't have an alpha scorer, we don't have a bunch of obvious weaknesses all over the court. Telfort and Brooks are much better than expected, and Turnbull looks like a new player this year.
We'll know a lot more after going to Michigan State next week, but I feel like we are probably a bubble team this year...and hopefully in the middle of the pack in the BE...which is a huge step in the right direction.
