Providence AD to Retire/Hire made

Postby stever20 » Fri Jan 21, 2022 10:29 am

Just saw this from Jon Rothstein- Providence AD Bob Driscoll will retire in June, per release.

Really hope this doesn't impact Cooley at all- change his thoughts of sticking there. They're the best they've been in so long.

I wouldn't think it would impact Cooley, he's from Providence (I believe) and unless PC totally botches the hire the new AD is going to have to understand the importance of basketball at Providence.

Cooley will likely have a huge say in the next AD too. He's really invested in Providence and is very much a lifer there, by accounts.

I don’t think Cooley has that much power

Only Jay does. Other than that there is only one coach who has a Sweet 16 with his current team... so really there shouldn’t be anyone thrilled with their HC besides Nova and maybe Creighton.

It is nice to hear some bitching from SJ and GT fans on here (and our resident Demon) .... I know it pisses me off watching legendary programs flounder

Somewhere i read than Dan Gavitt may be a candidate.

Bob Driscoll has done an excellent job. He's actually a old Friars hockey guy, but is a huge hoops supporter too.

Sh_t...I'd best knock the dust off the ol' resume/CV. I wouldn't mind going back to RI, though it has been
a few decades. What are the current stats? Economy, education rating levels, crime stats, projected growth, tech startups, etc.?

Old git...back in Rhode Island, hmmm. Septuagenarian with a (new & improved) 30-something wife. I'd even let Ed keep his job, :(

PS: Just noticed that I've reached 2500 posts on the HLOH! hurrah. Now only another 30 years to catch Stever...

I see that Steven Napolillo has been named as the new AD for Providence.
