Looks like Temple will be joining in women's field hockey and lacrosse not quite sure how the Temple News cracked this one. Certainly gives us a unique connection with the opposite side of the Big East split.

http://temple-news.com/sports/2013/04/30/with-shortage-of-american-teams-field-sports-join-big-east/

Due to a combination of the depleted number of teams left in the Big East and the lack of lacrosse and field hockey programs in The American, both conferences have a verbal, yet unofficial, agreement to come together for at least one season.

If I am reading this correctly I think this means that at least for lacrosse and field hockey the conferences will be merged im guessing this means womens lacrosse only(unless Rutger's plays with us for one year which doesn't change much). Which would mean for women's lacrosse the confrence would be Marquette, Temple, Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Villanova to form an 8 team women's lacrosse conference.

Interesting in that this would be the template to provide the one men's lacrosse member for a season in Rutgers. If they add Richmond, that would eliminate the need for an affiliate. Otherwise, I suppose at least it's an extra year to weight options.

Interesting... kinda looks dampens the outlook for my Bellarmine knights. then again they may need a team in a year to replace departing AAC schools. You can't complain to much when your a D2 school looking to catch on as an associate in a non rev.

On a side note on how much men's lacrosse is growing. across from the U of L campus in the Louisville KY ground zero of the kentuckiana and national basketball universe there is a billboard advertising Bellarmine Knights Lacrosse.

There is a silver lining to this. I got multiple degrees from multiple schools and one of them just got in the Big East.

Thats right not St. Louis, not Bellarmine but the Current NCAA basketball champions University of Louisville Cardinals. LOL i can now officially stay on this board for one season however my comments will likely be reduced to women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey... ;) I'll await final ruling from the site admin.

Congrats to Villanova for making it to the Big East title game. I don't follow lacrosse that closely but I'm surprised that Seton Hall doesn't field teams. Lots of good high school lacrosse players in New Jersey.

Have one program add lacrosse I think the best option would be Creighton and then get the University of Denver to join lacrosse only or even non basketball as they are pretty strong in non revs. They currently play lacrosse in the ECAC(Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference) many of our teams are either the same distance or closer and DU is always a top ten in lacrosse. The ECAC Lacrosse league will likely fall apart as with Ohio State and Michigan joining the new B1G lacrosse league they wont have enough teams for an AQ in the tournament. With adding Denver you could also add Air Force(also ECAC) a top 20 team most years. This gives you an absolutely stellar Lacrosse conference one that gives you a 10 team very strong lacrosse conference. Even if you couldn't get Denver or John Hopkins thats still a good 8 team conference which in lacrosse is a big conference. I think geographically this would still make since these teams are already traveling these distances so its not a big stretch.

Looks like one part of my plan is falling into place lets hope that we can add Belarmine and maybe Air Force now. Maybe if were really lucky Denver will attract Johns Hopkins.

The article you linked made a point that this signals Johns Hopkins and the Big East are probably no longer considering an affiliation. I still don't get why you want so many affiliates, but this is probably the end of it for men's lacrosse. ...hopefully, anyways.

I'm guessing this means Rutgers knows B1G will have lacrosse for Maryland. Hard to believe with their conditions, but I feel Johns Hopkins to B1G is a lot more likely, now.

Is it time to start Denver + Gonzaga full member rumors?

Nice pickup. Good to know we have a full conference for next year. I'm looking forward to the lacrosse season.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
